Kerry Tap Ensemble is a tap dance performance group based in Kerry, Ireland

Dr Trish Melton is the Director of the group and the principal teacher.  Her role is the develop tap dance technique and artistry in a fun, team setting.

In addition, Dr Trish aims to expose the group to other tap dancers and teachers through:

  • Inviting professional Tap Dancers to come to Kerry to teach workshops
  • Taking KTE members to tap dance festivals about the world
  • Exposing them to tap dance history, repertory, literature, film, etc

Dr Trish is a tap dancer, teacher and researcher.

  • She has a Diploma in Dance Education (Tap) from the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) 
  • She has an MA in Education (Dance Teaching) from the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and Bath University where her final year research was on Tap Dance Pedagogy
  • She is an advisory team member of the TDRN UK (Tap Dance Research Network UK) – a group whose vision is “to bring together researchers, artists, academics and practitioners; to. advocate, engage and develop an open platform that connects industry and academia to explore creative practice in tap dance”  @TDRNUK
  • She is currently completing a PhD in Tap Dance Pedagogy at Coventry University
