46 dancers across Ireland auditioned, 29 joined the training programme and we can now announce the team of 20 tap dancers that will be representing Ireland at @idoworlddance World Tap Dance Championship 2021

Team Ireland is Born!!

In February 2021 we received the exciting new that KTE Director, Dr Trish Melton, had been appointed as the President for IDO Ireland: Performing Arts.

The IDO is

The International Dance Organization (IDO), is a World Dance- and Dancesport Federation consisting of OVER 90 member and contact NATIONS, representing more than 500,000 DANCERS, from all SIX CONTINENTS.

Dr Trish made the decision that the first IDO competition which would have Ireland representation was the IDO World Tap Dance Championships, Nov 2021.

With this decision plans began

  • Developing a plan to get to the Worlds
  • Forming a Committee: web, social media, registration, travel, tracksuits, image, etc
  • Selecting and engaging with a Creative Team (containing global tap dance talent)
  • Creating a Tap Dance Development Plan
  • Engaging with the dance community across Ireland and holding auditions
  • Selecting and starting to train Team Ireland

Wow!! what a journey so far. Exciting to be training a team to represent Ireland on the world stage. I am so proud of everyone who is involved
